Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, otherwise called SCUBA, is a technique of swimming under water with the aid of scuba sets. Water contains dissolved oxygen which the fishes and other aquatic animals can extract using their gills, while it is not the case with humans who don?t possess gills and hence will need an external device. Scuba divers derive their oxygen from a cylinder filled with oxygen which in turn helps them stay under water for hours and days together.

Scuba masks, buoyancy devices, fins, gauges and breathing regulators are some of the equipments that help explore the under water world. Military, recreational, technical and commercial types of scuba diving are the most common types resorted to. Scuba diving does not come with a one dimensional approach, like if it is profession for some; it is a recreation for some! My next post will be about, scuba diving apparel.
