In the world of medicine, in order to draw blood, you do not have to acquire a phlebotomy certification. There are only two states that require all persons no matter rather you are a doctor or a nurse, to have a phlebotomy certification. These two states include California and Louisiana. In all of the other states, the only time that you absolutely need this type of certification is if you are actually applying for a job with the title of phlebotomy. This certification can only give you the upper hand when applying for these types of jobs because it shows that that you have met all requirements for the job.
