My granddaughter headed straight for our new piano. I had purchased the old upright from a neighbor who wanted it out of her living room. But six-year old Grace immediately climbed on the bench and started poking keys. After a few days, however, the constant noise (yes, it was noise) started getting to me. But, I didn’t want to ruin Grace’s obvious enjoyment.  A friend came to the rescue over a cup of coffee. Talking loudly enough to be heard, she asked why Grace wasn’t taking kids piano lessons. I wondered if she was old enough, but my friend assured me that six was just the right age. Grace’s mom and I now share the cost of Grace’s piano lessons. She loves it!
